Londonderry, Rockingham, NH, 300 acres is laid out by the Proprietors of Londonderry to David Gregg and Alexander McCoy, East of Stone Dam, bounds beginning on Beaver Brook near the said damn. This farm was located in that part of Londonderry which was set off to form the town of Windham in 1742. David build his house on the top of Castle Hill at Stone Dam, a few rods southeast of the house owned by Charles W. Campbell in 1880. At the time of Davig Gregg's settlement in Londonderry the region was a wilderness abounding in bears, wolves, catamounts, deer, and other wild animals.1 |

Father and grandparents are massacred by a band of Irish raiders. He escaped to, Londonderry, Londonderry, Ireland, During the next 100 days helived through the horrors ofthe famous siege of Londonderry, when the wretched populations was reduced to the extremity of eating even rats and old shoes, until relieved bythe arrival of an English squadron on 30 July 1689. These privations followed by a terrible pestilence, which ravaged the city until the approach ofwinter weather. In the Spring of 1690 a large English army under William III arrived in Ulster and completely defeated the Irish and French army of James II at the great battle of the Boyne, 1 July 1690.1 |
