Father   William Russell Nevins (Reverend) b. 13 October 1797, d. 14 September 1835
Mother   Mary Lloyd Key b. August 1801, d. 8 November 1834

Birth* circa 1826 MD1
(Witness) Event-Misc 14 April 1865 William R Nevins; Washington, DC, Witnesses one of John Wilkes Booth's accomplices in hotel in Washington DC on day of Lincoln's assassination -- "George Atzerodt was supposed to be learning something of Johnson's habits, but he wasn't even sure whatthe vice president looked like. He saw a distinguished-look man in the lobby [of Kirkwood House, a hotel in Washington, DC] and asked him where the vice president was staying. William R. Nevins sais that Johnson was actually in the dining room having his supper. He pointed him out to Atzerodt, who looked, then walked away." George Atzerodt was a co-conspirator of John Wilkes Booth who was supposed to assassinate the vice president, Andrew Johnson, that night but failed to carry out his mission. Again, this could refer to William R. Nevins #5216 instead of William R. Nevins #5744.2
(Witness) Census 1880 William R Nevins; US Census, North Branch, Wyoming, PA, William R. described as white retired Lawyer aged 54, b. MD (father b. CT, mother b. DC). Caroline Nevins age 49 is boarding in the same houshold (of one Joseph Allen). One assumes that she is WIlliam's wife. It is POSSIBLE that this census entry refers to William R. Nevins #5216 (see witness list) rather than William R. Nevins #5744. They would have been about the same age.1
