Birth*22 October 1848 Friedrich Wilhelm Mühlstein (Immigrant 1853) was born on 22 October 1848 at Mühltroff, Germany, Date from church record. Birth date of 18 Oct 1848 is shown on death certificate which gives his birthplace as Pittsburg [sic] and his wife was the informant, father Chas C from Bavaria.1 
Immigration*1853 He immigrated in 1853. Note that 1900 census says he immigrated in 1853. Since his father and siblings arrived in 1851, is this wrong? Another possibility is that since his mother is not on the passenger list, and we know she had another child a few months after her husband and older children came over, maybe she, the oldest son, and the youngest children came after her husband got settled with the older children. When did he naturalize?

Death*13 June 1920 He died on 13 June 1920 at Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., California, at age 71 Cremated. Died at 894 S Marengo. Death certificate says his birth date was the 18th and gives his birthplace as Pittsburg, with his wife being the informant. His father Chas C is shown as from Bavaria. 
Obituary His obituary was Obit (from scrapbook, unnamed paper, no date).
William F Muehlstein formerly of Pittsburg died Sunday in Pasadena Cal. He had lived in California since 1914. Besides his widow Mrs Emma G Muehlstein he is survived by a son W Earl Muehlstein and a sister Mrs Nanie Eckert of Billings Maine. (states Maine, but means Missouri)

Another obit states.
At Pasadena Cal on Sunday June 13, 1920 at 10pm W F Muehlstein beloved husband of Emma Muehlstein (nee Gmeiner) formerly of Pittsburg PA. He is survived by his wife and son Earl. Interment took place at Pasadena Cal Wednesday June 16.
