| Source* | | Source(s): "Jans Joerg (Johann Georg) Kemper, [the 1899 Kemper book indicates his name as Hans Jorgen and his American name as John George], son of Johann and Anna (Loew) Kemper, born Musen, Germany, about 1662-63 and was christened on January 4, 1663; died in Musen on October 23 (or October 3, old style calendar), 1731. He married AGnes (or Agnesa Kleeb (or Kleb), daughter of Johannes and Catharina (Lam) Kleeb, (Johannes Kleeb was the son of Hans Kleeb; Catharina Lam was the daughter of Paul Lam), on April 30, 1691, in the little Reformed Church in the Musen village. No one knows when the little Reformed Church was founded, because all the records were destroyed diring the Thirty Years Was which ended in 1648; the new reocrds began with January 4, 1649. Ther church was rebuilt about 1675. All of the earlier gravestones were removed; however, the original tower which dated from 1625 was still standing in 1899, when the Kemper Family in the United States by Willis Miller Kemper and Henry Linn Wright was published. Agnes born 1669, christened at Musen on October 24, 1669; she died there on December 27, 1703. Hans Joerg was a skilled mechanic and was employed as an ironworker in the iron mines in Musen. In addition, he was also a blacksmith and a church elder at Musen."1 |
