His will:
In the name of God Amen. I, John Ripeto of the County of Albemarle being in my perfect senses and memory calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make this my last will and testament in manner following:
Item. My will and desire is that all my just debts should be paid out of my estate by my executors hereafter to be named.
Item. I lend to my beloved wife Mary Ripeto the tract of land whereon I now live together with all the rest and residue of my estate of what nature and kind I may possess at my death during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage I give the tract of land and plantation whereon I now live to my daughter Mary Ripetoe together with all the rest and residue of my estate to her and her heirs forever, my reason for giving all my estate to my daughter Mary Ripetoe is that I have already given to the rest of my children what I intend them to have of my estate, and I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved Mary Ripetoe and Henry Stone executors of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five (11 Feb 1805).

At a court held for Albemarle Co the 6th day of March 1820, this instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Ripeto deceased was produced into court and proved by the oaths of Elijah D Watts and James Stone witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Teste: Alex Garrett C.A.C. (Will book 7 page 44).
