Handwritten notes from Richard Jackson's Henry Stoneking family group sheet: "He was wounded in action during WWI in France. He was sent to a hospital in Toul, France where he died 16 Sep 1918. He was buried in France. His body was later disinterred and sent to America. his remains arrived in Macomb, IL on 26 May 1921 via New York and Chicago. He was buried in the Stoneking Family Cemetery in Bethel Township of McDonough County, IL, where he grew up to manhood. His body was later reinterred in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, IL, in the family plot beside his sister who died earlier." These details are supported by newspaper clippings on file.
