Peter was a church warden in Brixton. Of Brixton Parish, Devonshire. 21 Dec 1627 Peter COFFIN wrote his will, Brixton, Devonshire, England. Hegives to his wife Joan Kimber Coffin all the profits and commodities ofhis lands and tenements within the parish of Brixton during herwidowhood. She to pay her son Tristram 50 shillings at the 4 usual feastsof the year and provide sufficient meat, drink, and clothes andconvenient lodgings to Tristram as befits his status during herwidowhood. If she does not pay, Tristram may take control of theproperties until she does pay. If she should remarry, she shall lose thetenement called Silverhey and it shall immediately go to Tristram and hisheirs. He gave wife Joan possession of his land, ect. during her life,and then to go to his son Tristram, 'who is to be provided for accordingto his degree and calling.' Son John to have certain property when heshall be 21 years of age. Daughters Joan, Deborah, Eunice and Mary under21 years of age. Refers to his tenement, called 'Silferhay,' in Butlers,and to his brother Nicholas.1
