Note*  1st reference found in Stonington, CT., 1703. His marriage was published March 21, 1703. He was married 4/21/1703 by Rev James Noyes of Church of Christ, Stonington, CT. - from The Record of My Ancestry - The Edward S. Bentley Family compiled by Mary Merrill Bentley and John G. Putnam 1939. William and Mary established themselves a year or so later at Lebanon, Connecticut, and at a town meeting held on December 25,1707, William was duly accepted as an inhabitant of the town. William bought a farm there in 'Ye Mile' 'with all ye house, garden, fences, fruit trees, etc.'. It was described as 'near the Sawmill on ye deep Brook'. Later, he became quite prominent and owned a good deal of land. In 1729 he was one of the founders of the churchin nearby Goshan (that is the way they spelled it then) Parish, which is not to be confused with Goshen, Litchfield County. Helived there all his life and died in 1751. - Edward S. Bentley letter. 
Burial* William Bentley was buried at Lebanon. 
Marriage*21 April 1703 He married Mary Elliot, daughter of Henry Elliot and Deborah (Bell) York, on 21 April 1703 at Stonington, Connecticut. 
Death*1751 William Bentley died in 1751.
