Note*  William was a soldier in the French and Indian War at Ticonderoga, petioned for a new highway in 'Goshan' 4/27/1733, for the formation of troop of horse in May 1741. In 1742-3 purchased land in Kent, CT.and was then designated 'as of East Hadom'. After discharge from army suffered a relapse from Camp Fever (typhoid) on way home and died at Hartford, CT. A member of 3rd Reg, 6th Co, Conn. Volunteers. Records - Church of Christ After ten years of married life at Goshan, william (and possibly his brothers as well) had seen enough of it. He moved to East Haddamin 1742 and about that time he and his brothers, John and James, bought land in the newly formed Town of Kent, Connecticut, although there is no indication that he ever moved there. William had five children in Goshan and five more in East Haddam. In1756, in spite of his family, or possibly because of it, he enlisted in the 3rd Regiment of Connecticut Volunteers in the French and Indian War and marched against Canada. At Ticonderoga he came down with typhoid fever and after several months in the hospital was discharged and told to go home. He made his way as far as Hartford, where he suffered a frlapse and died. His widow returned to Franklin (near Lebanon) where she brought up the family and died on March 1, 1797, aged 85 years. - Letter to Dr, William B.A. Bentley from Edward S. Bentley.
