Mrs John Delaney received a telegram Friday, Jan 11, announcing the death of Mrs Campbell, widow of the late Frasier D Campbell. She died at the home of her son Eugene A Campbell, in Livingston, Montana. A few minutes after reading the sad tidings, Mrs Delaney received a letter from Mrs Campbell written on Sunday, January 6. Reading a message from one who had passed away before the letter reached its destination, added to the feeling of incredulity that the death messaged caused. It was hard to believe possible that one who had been a life-long friend and a woman of great activity, should have so unexpectedly entered into her eternal rest.
Since the death of her husband, in this city, July 14, 1904, Mrs Campbell has lived with her daughter and son, Eugene. Not long ago she went to Livingston, expecting to spend the winter there. For about a year the lady has been afflicted with lung trouble and her friends believe this lead to her death. Her last letter states that she was in poor health.
Mrs Campbell's maiden name was Lemira A Hepburn. She was a native of Vermont. She married F D Campbell at Colton, New York, February 4, 1863. They came to Rochester in 1865 and for nearly forty years this was their home. She is survived by four chirldren - Mrs Ada A Burns, Frank W, Eugene A, and Walter J Campbell. She was a woman of extreme goodness of heart and was esteemed by a large circle here.
The remains arrived here from Livingston, Montana on Monday afternoon, accompanied by the relatives. The funeral services were held at the Universalist church at 3 o'clock. Many of the old friends and neighbors were in attendance.5
Burial*1907 She was buried in 1907 at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, Olmsted Co., Minnesota; remains returned to Rochester for burial.
