Census1850*1850 William R Bratton appeared on the 1850 census as the head of household, District 1, Montgomery Co., Kentucky, Bratton, William 39 b.VA $4710 land, - slave schedule pg 77 shows he has 4 slaves, 20 yr old mulatto female, and three black males ages 15, 10, and 3. 
Census1860*1860 He appeared on the 1860 census as the head of household, Rockyfork Twnshp, Boone Co., Kentucky, pg 676 #286-279 Bratton, Wm 49 b.VA farmer $6000 (4 families seem to be in same household, all farmers, but they each have a large land value ($3000, $3000, and $1800). Is this a co-op farm? or did the census taker forget to number the households. The surnames of the others are Ridgway, Palmer, and Goslin(?).1 
Census1870*1870 He appeared on the 1870 census as the head of household, pg 231 line 8, Boone Co., Missouri, Bratton, Wm 59 b.KY farmer $3000-$2000. 
(InHomeOf) Census18801880 He appeared on the 1880 census in the household of Edmond Bratton, pg 266d, Hallsville, Boone Co., Missouri. His info on the census included - Bratton, William 69 b.KY (parents b.VA) farmer living with son Edward (s/b Edmond.) 
Death*14 June 1890 William R Bratton died on 14 June 1890 at Boone Co., Missouri, at age 79 death and burial from Ancestral File 2X5J-XJ only Have looked at Boone county index for deaths (SLC 1914100) as well as the deaths for 1889-1891 and did not find him. 
Burial* He was buried at Red Top Church, Hallsville, Boone Co., Missouri. 
Probate His estate was probated; probates from SLC 913361 Boone Co MO abstracts of packets. Number is packet number. Last name is Bratton. Probate packets 1-3877 go from 1819-1885. So the William of probate 4225 (not at SLC) has a good likelyhood of being William who died 1890. Send for the probate.
