He filed on the Dawes Roll in about 1896 but was denied even though he had quite a few affidavits from people who were Chickasaw who said his family was related. The judges statements also said he was being denied because he went to Texas instead of to IT so was, therefore, a citizen of the United States. He also supposedly had two kids who got on the Dawes Roll. Supposedly, his daughter is the one who influenced him to try. |
