Summary: In the matter of the application of Emmett W Gray for enrollment as a citizen of the Cherokee Nation... testified as follows. He gives his name as Emmett W Gray, age 21, post office address as Checotah in the Canadian district. He's a recognized citizen of the Cherokee Nation by blood and want's to enroll himself. His father is S. W. Gray and he's not living. His mother is Electa B, and she's not living either. He's lived in the Cherokee Nation all his life. He appears on the authenticated rolls of 1880 and 1896.
With that info, other searching was done and found that S W is Stand Watie and Electa is Electa Victoria Bertholf and they are buried in McIntosh Co OK (http://www.okgenweb.org/~okmcinto/cemetery/bertholf2.htm) McIntosh county is across the state from Comanche county, and this Emmet is still in McIntosh county in the 1920 census. |
