Source Source(s): "On looking for records of the activities of Christian Eslinger ... we find no further entries whatever in the PA records, nor have we been able to find any in certain county records of the State of Virginia, which counties have contained a number of residents of German ancestry. But we do find the name of Christian among the children o an Andrew Eslinger who died in TN in 1824 and the name also occurs among other Esslingers. We, therefore, feel justified in drawing the conclusion that Christian Esslinger did not tarry long in PA bur probably made his way down through VA and either he or his descendants gradually worked their way into the eastern portion of TN near the headwaters of the tN River. There we find Andrew Eslinger (First) and believe his to be the son or possibly the grandson of Christian Eslinger who landed in Philadelphia ..."1
Source Source(s): From the IGI ... you can trace the Esslinger line back to Hans Esslinger who had a son named Anthony Esslinger, born 1530. Some other researchers had the line confirmed by Friedrich R Wollmershauser of Germany. After the death of Christian Esslinger, Margaretha Barbara married Jasper Barr in North Carolina. Christian Esslinger and family came to America aboard the English ship "Patience" arriving at Philadelphia 19 Sep 1749. They moved down to Orange (now Guilford) County, NC. Son Andrew came to TN around 1800 and settled in Jefferson Co where his will was written 9 May 1820 and probated in Sep of the same year. - Mrs Donald C (Brenda) Esslinger.2
