Sidney Eslinger sent xerox of photo of tombstone years ago, so it definitely existed at one time.
In 2011, a volunteer said: My wife and I went back to the Elk Creek Cem. today, it was nice and about 70 degrees today, we searched the cemetery over and could not find Alexander Eslinger. I even turned over the tombstones that had broken off or fallen over to read them. There are lot and lots of stones in the cemetery that are unreadable, and lot of missing stones. I am sorry that we were not able to find him. We even went to a small cemetery around the corner on Elk Creek Road to make sure that the info you had was right but he was not in that cemetery either. If you can find the row and lot number perhaps I can at least take a photo of the area he is buried in. Either he had no stone, it is unreadable, or it is missing.
Probate19 October 1850 His estate was probated on 19 October 1850 at Butler Co., Ohio; probate file 01797 shows that Alexander was "late of Madison Township". The appraisers were Joseph Hinkle, John Smith and John Eckert, the executor was David Marts.
Some of the people mentioned in the probate as receiving money or buying things from the sale were Saloma Eslinger, Samuel Snyder , F W Snyder, Daniel Snyder, S Snyder, J H Eslinger, J Snyder
There was a bond by David Marts, Peter Schenck and Samuel Snyder and that bond indicates there was a will, so the full probate file needs to be ordered.
