| Note* | Imogene Philbee According to Norma (Philbee) Morgan, Imogene is not the biological child of Charles. (The father of the baby died before he was able to marry Mary.) After Mary's death, Jean, as she was called, was raised by her grandmother Rose (Compton) Ball. Rose Compton Ball's obituary states that at the time of her grandmother's death in 1978 Jean was married to LeRoy Frye and lived at 1224 E. Adams Street, Macomb. Per a letter from Rose Compton, to Norma (Philbee) Morgan, that was relaying information from a letter written by Alice (Stoneking) Derry (Mary's sister) "Jeannie's husband died 1 Aug 1986 and she died on 17 Sep 1986. They had been in ill health for a long time." In April 2010 I made the acquaintance of Deanna (Frye) DeBord, grandaughter of Imogene via a message board on Ancestry.com. Deanna was very fond of her grandparents and tells of their happy marriage. She says that they were inseperable. She spoiled her grandkids to a fault. They had a dog named Tiny that enjoyed its own bowl of ice cream each night when they had theirs. Deanna said that her grandmother was extremely superstitious and suffered from severe asthma, which eventually claimed her life. (Others have told me that they think that she died of lonliness without her beloved husband who had passed away six weeks before.) The home that they lived in carries some mystery. Something ghostly happened to Deanna's sister, Kim, in that home when she was little that she has carried a deathly fear of that home thoughout her life. Deanna said that two of the children had nasty experiences in the house. The house is currently owned/occupied by Hugh and Imogene's daughter, Debbie, who purchased it from the estate after they died. One of Debbie's children are said to have done some research into the house and found that a father had murdered his son in that house. | |
