Verified as child in this family by 1885 History of McDonough Couny IL.
Per the 1885 History of McDonough County IL, "he was the owner of 80 acres of land located in section 33, Bethel Twp., which was admirably adapted to the growing of small grains and stock raising." ..." He was licensed as a preacher of the gospel by the Protestant Methodist Church in 1879. He has since that time [1879-1885] been engaged in preaching; three years as a local preacher, and three years upon the circuit. He has assisted at several noted rivials, at one of which, at Industry, 120 persons were converted. He has held the office of commisioner of highways three years, and was elected in 1885, and holds the office of justice of the peace. Mr. Stoneking is a public spirited citizen, and enjoys the confidence and respect of the entire community in which he resides."

He was employed as the foreman of a lumber camp on the Sangamon River, five miles from Browning, in January 1914, where his nephew, Fred Stoneking, (son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Stoneking), was also employed there, was killed in a logging accident.

Obituary makes no mention of his first wife and children. Lists his occupation as farmer. States he had been a member of the Christian church for the past 10 years, and that he was also a member of the Macabee Lodge. He died due to complications of an illness of 4 months duration.

SPRING CREEK CAMP
Camp Meeting Association was a Methodist Episcopal congregation. which organized around 1856 and met originally at the Walker Schoolhouse, on the SW comer of Sec. 8 in Emmet Twp. In 1879 and 1880 the Association purchased property from Abraham B. Stickle on the NW comer of Sec. 9 m Emmet Twp. (Deeds: 47/417; 46/62) where it erected a tent and buildings. The Association also changed its name to the Macomb District Camp Meeting Association. The local name for the site was Spring Creek Camp. The grounds were used for revival meetings until 1899 (Peter, 74).
