Note* | | "The earliest record of a Henry Vine is that of the soldier in the French and Indian War listed in Connecticut Historical Collections v.3 [8?] pg 228 in C. Elmer's Company, 3rd CT Regiment in His Majesty's hospital at Ft Edward, July 24 to Oct 24, 1780. __thography of the Captain's name may be incorrect. He may have been Samuel Elmore, of Sharon, under whom Robert Vine served in the campaigns of 1759 and 1761." "Records of the First Dutch Reformed Church of Schenectady NY show baptisms of Catarina and Henry, children of Henry Vine and Maria de la Grange. these are also in First Settlers of the Patent and City of Schenectady by Pearson. There were probably other children. It is believed that Gay Vine, of Canajoharie NY in 1830, was a son of Henry and Maria, born before Catarina, also that Elizabeth Vine who married John Vosburg in 1791 was their daughter." "Name of Henry Vine does not appear in Revolutionary War records nor in the census of 1790, yet he was still living in 1795 when he and his wife Maria served as sponsors at baptism of their daughter Catherine's second child." (sic, Catarina.)1 |
