After graduating from John C Fremont High School, Los Angeles CA, he worked for Walt Disney Studios. In May 1942, he enlisted in the Army as a Combat Photographer. Photographed the initial landings in North Africa, also Port Lautey, French Morrooco, and Oujda. He was the personal photographer of General Mark Clark as he was forming the 5th Army with 1st Infantry Division under Patton in Tunisia then on to landings in Sicily on Red Beach 2 in Gela. Then across the Straights of Messina to the Mt Cassino ara then Anzio Beach landings the latter part of Jan 1944 until the breakout toward Rome and north to the Arno River near Florence.1 | |
