Dover, NH. 1640, 25 Jun: Was on list of inhabitants of Kittery and Berwick, ME whodid and did not attend Saco court. 1642: Granted 20 acre lot #14 laid out on west side of Back River, Dover,NH. Bounded on south by William Hilton, on north by Samuel Haynes. Laterowned by John Drew. 1642, 28 Jul: Administration of estate of John Phillips given to EldersNutter and Starbuck to pay the debts. 1643: Deputy to General Court. Fined for 3 week's absence. 1644: Edward Starbuck, Richard Waldron and William Furber were appointedweirsman for life. 1646: Deputy to General Court. 1646: Agent for Mr. Valentine Hill. 1646: Mr. George Smith and Mr. E. Starbuck to take charge of the writingsthat were in custody of Mr. Waldron. 1647: On grand jury, Maine. 1648: Partner with Richard Waldron in lumbering on the Maine side. 1648: Bound to the peace towards the minister and to appear at Boston forviolating the law concerning Anabaptists. 1648, 19 Dec: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1649, 8 Dec: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1650: Received a joint grant with Mr. Thomas Wiggin. 1653, Jul: Edward and Katherine Starbuck sold 1/2 his sawmill grant toPeter Coffin. 1654: Commissioner on Dover (NH) - Kittery (ME) bounds. 1657: Sold to Thomas Broughton 1/4 the mill above Capt. Waldron's mill atCochecho, other owners being Capt. Wiggin (1/2), Peter Coffin (1/4). 1657, 21 Jul: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1657, 10 Nov: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1658: Dover commissioner. 1658, 12 Oct: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1659: Received a joint grant of 200 acres with Elder Nutter. 1659: Early in the year, went with Tristram Coffin, Isaac Coleman, andJames Coffin to Nantucket, with Peter Folger as interpreter for theIndians. 1659, 2 Sep: At a meeting of the proprietors of Nantucket at Salisbury,MA, the ten owners were authorized to admit ten partners. Thomas Macytook Edward Starbuck. Feb 1659/60. 1659, 22 Nov: Taxed, Dover, NH. 1659: Spent the winter on Nantucket with James Coffin and Isaac Coleman.Returned to the mainland in the spring. (5) Spent the winter on thewestern end of the Island at Madaket. 1659/60, 9 Mar: Deeded his Cochecho house, goods, cattle, etc. toson-in-law Coffin. 1660, spring: Moved to Nantucket. (5) Took son Nathaniel and daughterDorcas with him. (4a) Came to Nantucket from Martha's Vineyard. (4) 1671: Indian deed of Nantucket Island was to Tristram Coffin, ThomasMacy, Richard Swayne, Thomas Barnard, John Swayne, Thomas Mayhew, EdwardStarbuck, Peter Coffin, James Coffin, Stephen Greenleafe, Tristram CoffinJr., Thomas Coleman, Robert Bernard, Christopher Hussey, Robert Pyke,John Smyth, and John Bishop. Recruited many of the tradesmen who settled on Nantucket. (With Richard Gardner, served as Chief Magistrate for Nantucket after theexpiration of Tristram Coffin's term as the first Magistrate. With John and Richard Gardner represented Nantucket and delivered taxesto New York. The taxes were paid in dried and salted codfish.1
