James Barbour

Note* | | James Barbour was an Indian Fighter. He was granted land in 1727 andalso in 1728 for his services in the Colonial Wars. Three houses werebuilt on this land and were burned to the ground. The family home thatwas standing in 1905 was at that time 125 years old. In the attic of thishouse was a record in chalk on the wide boards with the date of JamesBarbour's sail to Rhodes Island in 1798. Near this house, just over thebrow of the hill was the old block house where the family used to go forsafety in times of Indian attacks.
