| Note* | | ZACCHEUS MAYHEW , (Thomas,7-6-5 Matthew4), b. 1684, res. C., lawyer andfarmer. He was appointed justice of the Court of Common Pleas for thiscounty in 1718 and sat on the bench with his cousin Paine (41) for over30 years. He was also interested in military affairs and was Colonel ofthe County Militia as early as 1713 and he held the same rank during theFrench and Indian Wars until his death, which occurred 3 Jan. 1760. Healso acted as agent for the Indians of the Island for many years and heldlocal offices in the town. He married SUSANNA WADE of Ipswich (pub. 12Sept. 1713) [*probably the daughter of Col. Thomas Wade of Ipswich.] Shewas b. 1692, and d. 23 May 1753. They had the following children: SUSANNA, b. 5 Nov.1714; d. 28 Aug.1734 (bur. Ipswich). LUCY, b. 4 July 1716; m. (1) Dr. THOMAS LITTLE (30) 13 Nov. 1733; (2)JOSEPH EATON. ELIZABETH, b. 1718; m. Rev. BELLAMY BOSWORTH of Bristol, R. I.15 Aug.1745. SARAH, b. Jan. 1719; m. (1) WILLIAM ALLEN (68) 13 Nov.1737; (2) SAMUELPALMER, pub. 3 Nov. 1751. NATHANIEL, b.1720; d.y. [He is buried at Abel's Hill Cemetery.] ZACCHEHS, bapt. 1723. THOMAS, b. 1725; d.1745.
