Note* | | He was the pioneer sesttler of Flemington, New Jersey. His house wasbuilt by him in 1756. He had a hotel in Amwell, New Jersey in 1746. Samuel Fleming Built the 'Fleming Castle' in Flemington , HunterdonCounty, New Jersey. This is how Flemington got its name. He built thetavern and the town grew up around it and had the name Fleming's Townthen eventually Flemington. Flemington, NJ was named after Samuel. He built a tavern/ home there in1756 called Fleming's castle. The property was auctioned off in 1765 to satisfy debts. The home stillexists and is owned and run by the DAR.1 |
