Mayhew as representative of the eldest line in his lifetime. Formany years he was deacon of the church in Edgartown, and was one of theprominent citizens of the town during his long and useful life. He wasmarried three times; (1) LUCY MAYHEW 31 Dec. 1772, who was b. 25 April1753 and d. bef. 1798 (2) Mrs. JANE (Kelley) PEASE, wid. of Ephraim, 8April 1798, who was b. abt. 1745 and d. 16 Oct. 1816; (3) PARNELL MAYHEW,who was b. 23 Sept. 1785 and d. 26 Oct. 1848.
