Note*  One of the earliest ancestors of whom has a record was Sir John LeFleming a famous crusader. The name owes its origin to a native ofFlanders, who during the reign of King David the first, 1124, migrated toScotland and settled there taking the name of Le Fleming of Flanderensisin honor of his native Country. The family in later years were known asthe Bethlehem Flemings as its first members in America settled near theold meeting house in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.1
