     Illness Takes Pioneer, 75
     Death claimed Mrs. Effie M. Karneman, 75-year-old pioneer resident of the district, Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.H. McGilvray, in the Valley Chapel district. Mrs. Korneman, who was a native of Missouri, had crossed the plains with her parents, Charles and Mary Lambert, by covered wagon in 1874 and had lived the remainder of her life in this district. Death followed a long illness.
     She was born February 25, 1871 in Linn county, Missouri. In 1887 she was married to Henry Korneman who died in 1921.
     A member of Central Christian church in which she worked with Group 4 of the Women's council, she also belonged to Narcissa Rebeka lodge and to the Past Noble Grands club. She was active in fraternal and church work until ill health intervened.
     Besides the daughter with whom she had been living, Lena McGilvray (Mrs. C.H.) she leaves one other daughter, Goldie Enzeroth (Mrs. George) of Seattle; five brothers, Steve Lambert of Oregon City and James, Albert, Lavelle, and Carl Lambert of Walla Walla; one sister, Mrs Birdie Hamilton of Walla Walla; three grandchildren, Mrs. Harold Freeman of Richmond, Calif., Olivia and Donald Gilvray of Walla Walla; and one great grandchildren, Kathleen Freeman of Richmond.
