Birth*1828 Gertrude Agnes Harvey was born in 1828 at England; per being age 23 "next birthday" in 1851 census.
(InHomeOf) Census18511851 She appeared on the 1851 census in #38 Thirken district 75, Shipton, Sherbrooke Co., Quebec, Canada. Her info on the census included - G A Harvey, age next birthday 23 b.England, Episcopalian - she's in the same household as her future husband John Barnard, and Arthur & Georgina Wells family. The only other person surnamed Harvey in Sherbrooke county who was born in England is married to a Harvey, not a Harvey herself. So it seems very unlikely that she came there to be with family. SPECULATION: Since she's with the Wells family, did they all travel together from Guelph Ontario, meeting John because he and Arthur Wells were both civil engineers?
Association* She and (_Sophie?_) Harvey were associated; Her sister Sophia drew a pencil sketch of their grandfather's home in Bath England - see story and photos
Marriage*21 April 1853 Gertrude Agnes Harvey married John Fiske Barnard, son of John Barnard and Sarah Rice Bigelow, on 21 April 1853 at Congregation Church, Shipton, Sherbrooke Co., Quebec, Canada; "John Fiske Barnard Esq Civil Engineer of Worcester in the State of Massachusetts one of the United States, and Gertrude Agnes Harvey, spinster, late of Bath England, in virtue of special license, were married at Shipton this twenty first day of April eighteen hundred and fifty three". Minister was A J Parker, witnesses: GSH? Browne, S L Rowkin.1
