I am looking for any information you may have regarding Rodolphus or Myron (Miron) Hooker. They were originally from Chautauqua County in New York. Sometime between 1850 (they were in NY) and 1880 (Benjamin was in TX, Myron may still have been in NY) they moved to Delaware County, Iowa, Fairfield maybe. I am also looking for information on Nancy May Hooker the daughter of Benjamin F. Hooker who was the son of Myron Hooker who was the son of Rodolphus Hooker. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Kay Elliott [elliottkl@msn.com] on Ancestry Message boards.

My ancestor was Benjamin Franklin Hooker born Feb.27,1838. He was one fourth Cherokee Indian. He died Dec.21,1905 according to his tombstone in Charley,TX South of Witcha Falls. He married Malinda Debraoline Cole Hooker who was born March 26,1845. She is buried in Charley,TX. I don't know any further back than this Benjamin. I only know of the one son Newton Perry Hooker. They had a son named Newton Perry Hooker who was one eight Cherokee Indian who married Lizzie Stewart who was one fourth Cherokee Indian. They had nine children together.Their first borns were twin boys named Benjamin and Franklin b.March 23,1885. Do you think their could be a connection? Susan Swan [philsu@gateway.net]

Susan, your Benjamin F. Hooker was the son of Myron and Nancy (Palmeter) Hooker of Chautauqua Co., NY. The family moved to Richland Township, Delaware Co., Iowa about 1855 and on to Clay Co., TX (just S.E. of Wichita Falls) about 1874. Their son, Newton P. Hooker was born while the family resided in Iowa (1844/45). Benjamin apparently married Malinda (-?-) in Iowa about 1863. She was born in Michigan. If I remember correctly, Myron Hooker is the son of Rodolphus Hooker or at least part of the same family. I don't believe this family had any Cherokee blood unless Newton married someone with Cherokee ancestry. Be sure to search the postings on the Hooker page for Rodolphus Hooker.
