Story* | Christian Weber II , in 1778, recruited nearly a hundred men for the Continental forces, was elected their captain and with them served in the Revolution, enrolling under Colonel Leech. His military services must have been honorable, for after the war he was appointed by Governor Mifflin as Justice of the Peace. There are records also showing that he was County Commissioner, as his name apppeared on the Manatawny Bridge at Pottstown Pennsylvania, built in 1800. (This has since been washed away.) There is also an interesting record to the effect that the Governor had ordered meetings to be held at the tavern owned by Christian Weber and Elizabeth Weidner. This building and the home the first Christian built were still standing in the late 1890's. | |
