"LEVI BUTRICK is first noted in the 1850 census of La Grange Twp, Cass,
MI, at which time he was reported a sawyer, ae 39, b.NY. The 1860 census
reports him as a miller, ae 45, 'Michiganders in the Civil War' states that
Levi W. Butrick, Co. D, 6th Mich. Inf. was born in 1812 d. baton Rouge, LA,
1864. He could be the son of Abel (Abner) Buttrick, see alphabetical list.
His wife was Adeline Houben, b. NY abt. 1817.

"ABEL BUTTRICK. The 1830 census of Alfred Twp, Allegany,NY shows his
family as follows: males, 15-20,1, 60-70,1; females, 10-15,1, 20-30,1, 50-60,1.
Efforts to trace Avel and his famiy have been frutiless.
"ABNER BUTTERICK. The 1820 census of Alfred Twp, Allegany, NY, shows
his family as follows: males, under 10,3, over 45,1; females, under 10,1,
26-45,1; From the family data it appears that Abner and Abel are identical."
The application for pension made by Adeline Howden Butrick and granted 6 Nov
1863, #1527 to start 7 Jul 1862 @@ $8.00 per month The application shows that
Levi Buttrick was
a private, Co.D, 6th Regiment, Michigan Voluteers died in hospital of lung fever
at Baton Rouge, LA 7 July 1862. Affidavits also stated that Levi and Adeline
were married 8 Dec 1833 in Allegany, NY by Elder Brown and witnessed by
Mrs. Adaline Wheeler Wildman and Mrs. Louisa Farnsworth. By deposition on 4 Aug
1862 Adeline states her living children were: Jane L. age 28
Henry Orson age 27
Mary A. age 25
Willard L. age 20
Sarah E. age 17
Harriet A. age 15
Ann C. age 10 (b. 14 Nov 1851).
