The Burneys From North Carolina

by Pauline Burney Brightman

Pauline was my client for many years before her death, and I was priveledged to call her my friend. She knew she was sick and getting her book out was what kept her alive - she died just a few months after it was shipped. After shipping the book, she shipped all of her source material to Mr Kerry Armstrong whose email is k.m.armstrong @ att.net (without the spaces, of course). Patience is key, as he only checks his email a few times a month.

She also made sure that I would get the gedcom of her data into Ancestral File. The Ancestral File has been messed up some, as this John Burney is shown with Pauline as the submitter, but they have the wrong date of birth - it should be circa 1710.
John BURNEY (AFN:FDB6-2G)
Born: Abt 1769 Place: Of, , North Carolina
Died: May 1761 Place: , Orange, North Carolina
Married: Bef 1738 Place: , Beaufort, North Carolina
Elizabeth CHEEK (AFN:FDB6-3M) Pedigree
Born: Abt 1721 Place: Of, , Spottsylvania, Virginia
Died: Aft 1765 Place: , , Ga
Married: Bef 1738 Place: , Beaufort, North Carolina

The submitted gedcom also had his son as "John (Daniel in Sketch) Burney", not Daniel John BURNEY JR. as the Ancestral File has it. There are no restrictions on the gedcom as this is what Pauline wanted. She gave me the copyright for the book itself only. The original gedcom is available here (zipped) - it's an older (v4.5) gedcom, but as of 2009, should still import into most genealogy programs.

I am no longer offering the printed book as the price for printing and binding has gotten too high.

PDF option - It is available in a PDF file, though it's 78 megabytes. It's available via a passworded directory. If this is of interest to you, that is available only via PayPal, for a flat $10. On receipt, I'll email the username and password.

After you log in to your PayPal account, click on Send Money, then the Personal tab (not purchase as that makes me incur fees). Put kathryn@bassett.net into the "to" box, $10.00 into the "amount" box, and check the Other button. I can't take credit cards, by the way, even via PayPal, as it's a personal PayPal, not a business PayPal.

I have recently given FamilySearch permission to digitize. Once they do so, I'll provide a link here as that will be free.
